Toms River, NJ – On Friday, July 24, 2015, Ocean County Superior Court Judge Rochelle Gizinski, J.S.C., sentenced defendant Enzo Pena, 29, of May’s Landing to 30 years New Jersey State Prison with a 10 year period of parole ineligibility on a Drug King Pin charge. The case was prosecuted by OCPO Assistant Prosecutor Jamie Schron.
The charges stemmed from a March 21, 2013, arrest by members of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and Stafford Township Police Department. Police stopped Pena’s vehicle during the evening hours of March 21, 2013, in the Wal-Mart parking lot on Route 72 in Manahawkin. A search of Pena’s vehicle, and later his May’s Landing residence, pursuant to a court-authorized warrant, led to the discovery of marijuana in excess of 1 pound, a loaded handgun containing hollow point ammunition with a defaced serial number, a second loaded handgun with a defaced serial number and several thousand dollars in cash. Pena employed at least 5 juveniles in his Stafford Township drug distribution scheme.
On April 30, 2015, an Ocean County Grand Jury returned a 23-count Indictment charging Pena with Leader of a Narcotics Trafficking Network (first degree), 5 Counts of Employing a Juvenile in a Drug Distribution Network (second degree) and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose (second degree) among other crimes.
Pursuant to his plea agreement, this morning Judge Gizinski sentenced Pena to 30 years in New Jersey State Prison with a 10 year period of parole ineligibility on the Leader charge, concurrent to 7 years New Jersey State Prison with a 3.5 year period of parole ineligibility on the Weapons charge, concurrent to a 7 years New Jersey State Prison on the Employing the Use of a Juvenile charges.
