Defendant Mary Ellen Deane, 30, of Lakewood was sentenced today before Judge Blaney to 15 years in New Jersey State Prison with No Early Release stipulation concurrent on 5 counts 1st degree aggravated sexual assault concurrent to 7 and 1/2 years on 5 counts 2nd degree Endangering (3 cts of 2nd degree sexual assault merged for sentencing purposes) along with Megan’s Law registration, Parole Supervision for Life and Nicole’s law (No contact with victim). All said and done, Deane will be serving a 15 year sentence. Deane was found not to be a repetitive and compulsive offender, therefore will not be remanded to AVENEL. Deane was convicted of all 15 counts after a jury trial last spring.
The charges stem from acts of sexual penetration with a 12 year old known to the defendant. The offense occurred on multiple dates during the summer of 2010. Deane’s co-defendant Dennis Conover, 34, of Manalapan was found guilty of three counts after a separate trial this past May. He is pending sentence which is scheduled for October 2014.
The case was prosecuted by OCPO Senior Assistant Prosecutor Terry Ann Linardakis. The case was investigated by OCPO Det. Anthony Paciulli. Detectives John Murphy and John Carroll assisted during the investigation. Victim testified during both trials and was present in court for sentencing.
